Values

OK, these are quotes I found while reading Atlas' blog about honor killings. We must protect our most valuable asset. Our future. Our children. What kind of dark evil soul will torture and kill his own offspring? What should good men do to protect the innocent? What will you do?

It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate the minds of our children and exalt their courage; to accelerate and animate their industry and activity; to excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue. If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives.
John Adams, Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law, 1756

It is now no more that toleration is spoken of as if it were the indulgence of one class of people that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights, for happily, the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.
George Washington, letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, Rhode Island, August 17, 1790
This is the father of your country speaking from the shadows of the past.
